Victims of tragedy in Peñalolén sue the State for $8.7 billion pesos

The lawsuit has been filed on behalf of 19 people, who have asked for a total of 8.7 billion pesos following the air tragedy that killed 13 people in February of 2008.

SANTIAGO.-  A civil  lawsuit seeking compensation for moral and material damages was filed against the State this morning by attorneys Alfredo Morgado and Edgardo Reinoso on behalf of 19 victims of the Peñalolén air accident that took place on February 27th of 2008.


"It is a civil case seeking remedies for damages related to 18 victims of the Peñalolén air tragedy that killed 13 people and left others with life-long injuries", stated Morgado.


The lawsuit is being presented against the State, represented by the State Defense Council and, according to Morgado, is seeking total remedies of $ 8.7 billion pesos for 19 of the victims.  For those of the victims being represented that perished in the incident, damages would be paid to the victim's immediate family members.


Morgado stated that he is representing 18 victims, who have requested a total of 7.6 billion pesos, while Reinoso is representing the family of the fatal victim that has requested compensation of $1.1 billion pesos.
