Thieves steal safe with three thousand dollars and checks from hotel

The criminals tied-up and gagged the hostess before leaving the woman locked in one of the hotel rooms.

SANTIAGO.-  Officers belonging to the Metropolitan Robbery Investigation Brigade (BIROM) of the PDI and the East Metropolitan Public Prosecutor’s Office are currently investigating a robbery that took place early this morning at Hotel Lyon, located at 1500 Ricardo Lyon, in the municipality of Providencia.


According to Officer Víctor Fuentes, the incident took place at 1:00 AM this morning when the assailants arrived at the hotel pretending to be prospective guests and asked to see some of the rooms.


The hostess, who was not identified, was showing the individuals the rooms when one of them grabbed her from behind and ordered her to give them all of the money at the establishment. 


The perpetrators immobilized, tied-up and gagged the victim before leaving her locked in one of the rooms in order to steal a safe box with four checkbooks and three thousand dollars, which they loaded into a vehicle that was waiting for them in the parking lot and then fled the scene.
