SANTIAGO. -  While insisting that primaries are necessary within the Concertación for ideas to be debated, the senator and presidential candidate for the PRSD, José Antonio Gómez, has assured that he will be extremely careful not to tarnish the leadership of the PS-PPD-DC coalition candidate Eduardo Frei during the internal election process to determine the presidential candidate that will represent the Concertación.

“During a debate with Senator Frei, I will be very careful not to affect his leadership, but I will have to point out differences”, Gómez told Radio ADN while adding that even though he has received pressure from all sectors to rescind his presidential efforts, he will not cease his quest to lay issues on the table that are important to his party, such as quality public education.

Nevertheless, Gómez pointed out that his party will be paying close attention to the opinion of the people who participate in the primaries and assured, “we are not going to commit the colossal error of creating a problem for the Concertación”.
