SANTIAGO.– Minister of Justice Carlos Maldonado announced the designation of Christian Behm Sepúlveda as the new national director of the Civil Registry today.
The new head of the institution is an agricultural engineer who studied at the Universidad Católica. He has an MBA from the Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez and is currently a manager at the Banco del Desarrollo.
Minister Maldonado indicated that "he is a person who comes directly from the private sector and has developed his professional trajectory in a Chilean bank", having worked previously at both the Banco de Chile and Santander.
Maldonado emphasized that Christian Behm, who claims no political party affiliation, "clearly has expertise in management and strategy development".
The official went on to note that "it is the political will of the Government Administration to consolidate with this appointment the modernization process of the Civil Registry".
Behm will assume his position on March 1st, replacing Guillermo Arenas, who was dismissed from his position and subsequently charged with committing fraud against the treasury.
