SANTIAGO.- In the fifth case that has been revealed regarding a falsely reported missing political prisoner, the executive secretary of the Human Rights Program of the Ministry of Interior, Rosemarie Bornad, has placed blame of the wife of the alleged victim for having registered him in the Rettig Commision.

"That woman (Lidia Reyes) filed a report with the organization and six days later presented a tragedy lawsuit with the Lautaro Court, contradicting what she had told the Commission six days earlier", Bornand told Radio Cooperativa.

In this case the presumed victim was Pedro Gonzalo Millas Márquez, who was reported by his wife to be a missing political prisoner when she stated that she never saw him again following his arrest by police. Nevertheless, the man was found to be in custody on charges of domestic violence.

Bornand indicated that the information was handed over to a court of justice and the Federal Defense Council (CDE), who will determine whether or not a crime was committed and if a sanction will apply.

"Furthermore, the administrative measure that was adopted was to cancel the spousal pension payment", the secretary stated amid government suspicion that the woman had been deceitful.
