SANTIAGO.- French judge Sylvie Gagnard, who is in charge of investigating the charges of fraud against de Gilberte Van Erpe, better known as "Madame Gil" in the "magic cheese" case, arrived at the Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport at 10:30 a.m. this morning.
The magistrate will remain in the country for two weeks in order to collect information that will allow her to ascertain the woman's participation in the $7 billion-peso fraud case that took place in the country in 2006, affecting some 4,019 Chilean victims.
According to preliminary reports, Gagnardo will remain in Santiago until Friday of this week and will then travel to Coltauco in the Libertador Bernardo O'Higgins Region, where she will meet with some of the victims of the scam.
