SANTIAGO.- Following the fire that burned down the Municipal Market of Ancud yesterday, the mayor of the town, Federico Kruger, stated that for now local authorities have ruled out the responsibility of a third party in the blaze.

"We have no basis for suspicion", expressed the mayor in an interview with Radio Cooperativa. Kruger also announced that they plan to file a complaint over the incident.

With regards to the nearly 200 market vendors who depend upon the locale for their livelihoods, Kruger assured that measures are being taken to relocate their businesses.

"We are already moving some of them from the Municipal Market, there will soon be space in the bus terminal and we should be able to formalize everything in the next few days", specified Kruger.

The mayor went on to say that they are evaluating other alternatives for the affected business owners, such as using the space adjacent to the municipal gymnasium as well as another site right beside the burned former marketplace.
