SANTIAGO.– Winger Mark González is making the most of his current trip to South Africa. The former Universidad Católica player not only traveled to the home of the next World Cup to play a game, but also with the idea of advancing his application for dual citizenship.

The player was born in South Africa on July 10, 1984 and by obtaining a passport from the African nation he will benefit from the Cotonou Treaty, which allows him the opportunity to become a citizen.

But the Betis team has other pressing concerns to worry about with the player. All eyes are on him due to his most recent injuries received on October 17 of 2008 in a game against Argentina. González took a hard blow to the head and sprained a knee, leaving him on the sidelines for more than three months. He took back to the field this February 1st, when he made a goal against Getafe.

As the Betis team prepares to go up against Barcelona next Saturday, everyone is very anxious for González's full recovery.
