SANTIAGO.– A 16-year-old minor died in a police chase in the Municipality of El Bosque when the group he was escaping with in a vehicle got into an armed confrontation with police.
The six criminals had held up an internet café, where they made off with a pair of video game consoles and 30 thousand pesos in cash. They also stole a cellular phone and a USB drive from a client, valued at 50 thousand pesos, reported Radio Cooperativa.
The business owner managed to contact police, who went in pursuit of the suspects. In their attempt to flee, the subjects hit a pedestrian identified as 18-year-old Matías Gallego, who was taken to Hospital El Pino with non life-threatening injuries.
Police also made use of a law enforcement helicopter in their attempt to locate the perpetrators, who they finally caught on avenida Padre Hurtado on the 11,000 block, where the shooting began.
A boy identified with the initials E.V.A, age 16, received a gunshot wound in the confrontation and died while being taken to Hospital Barros Luco.
