SANTIAGO.- The wave of wildfires that have swept the Australian landscape also took a Chilean life. 50-year-old Miroslava Lipinsky was found dead with symptoms of asphyxia in her garage along with her husband Alan Jacobs, her son Lucas and a friend of her son, Nathan Charle.

According to local authorities, the tragedy occurred during the Gippsland fire storm, which completely destroyed her family’s home in Koornalla, Calligne, some 45 minutes from Melbourne.

The "Herald Sun" daily recalls Miros, who immigrated to Australia in 1969, as being "a reserved lady" who enjoyed "quiet, peaceful activities".

According to the homepage of theage.com.au, Lipinsky married Jacobs 30 years ago and had two sons with him: Lucas, age 21, and Grant, who was studying abroad at the time of the fire.

The Jacobs couple is remembered by the neighbors for being "truly passionate about everything that they did".
