SANTIAGO.- On Tuesday, January 20th, the Unión Española team broke-in their newly renovated Santa Laura stadium, defeating the Universidad Católica in a friendly summer match. Unfortunately, Manuel Neira was pulled from the game only minutes before entering the field.

The player had suffered a muscle tear that would keep him benched during the rest of the pre-season and through the beginning of the Apertura Tournament.

Niera's long-awaited return may take place this Saturday when his team goes up against Universidad de Chile. He is almost entirely recovered from his injury and is all set to go in as Luis Hernán Carvallo's alternate.

Nevertheless, the forward will have to fight for his space. The eleven players selected by the Coach already have an excellent record, three victories in three games, and seven goals in the past two matches.

Apparently, in Niera's absence, his teammates have not been losing time.

Programmed for 8:00 P.M. this Saturday at the Santa Laura Stadium, the confrontation between Unión Española and Universidad de Chile promises not to disappoint.
