First visits to Ema Velasco confirm improvements in her condition

SANTIAGO.- Deputy Marcelo Forni (UDI) and Father Nicolás Vial, who is the cousin of Consuelo Saavedra, arrived at the Clinica Las Condes medical facility today, where the youngest daughter of the TVN anchorwoman and Minister of Finance Andrés Velasco has been hospitalized after falling into a pool in Zapallar.

"We hope she will recover and there are good indications that this could happen. (…) They (Velasco and Saavedra) are very optimistic, there have been significant improvements, but we have to keep praying", stated the Member of Parliament.

Forni indicated that he was able to speak to the minister for five minutes and said that he was impressed by the strength both he and Consuelo are displaying at this very difficult time.

Meanwhile, Saavedra's cousin stated that "they (the couple) are optimistic and certain that the little girl is getting better each day", and added that "they are happy to be seeing the signs she (Ema) is showing of improvement".

Furthermore, Father Nicolás Vial stressed that he noted that the family was very hopeful and declared that "prayer and faith always allow for miracles".

The priest also thanked the public for the groups that have been formed to pray for the little girl's recovery. "They are a fundamental necessity, without them the world is empty and full of sadness", he said.
