SANTIAGO.-  Almost one week after the pool accident suffered by the daughter of the Minister of Finance Andrés Velasco and television anchor Consuelo Saavedra, former President Ricardo Lagos arrived at the Clínica Las Condes hospital at noon today along with his wife to offer his support to Ema´s parents.

“I would say that they are more optimistic than last week.  I think there is progress and that is good”, stated the former President, who added that “it is encouraging to see them, as Andrés said, getting their hopes up”.

Lagos mentioned the death of the child of writer/poet Cristián Warnken, who lost his two year-old son Clemente in 2007 in a similar accident saying, “the truth is that this and what happened last year with Warnken, inspire us to reflect on many things”.

“I am not talking about learning lessons, because no lessons are taken from such events, however we can learn how to face them”, stated the ex President.
