SANTIAGO.- 26 year-old Eduardo Concha Guerra will remain in custody after being charged with murdering his father, Hugo Concha Arias, whom he allegedly shot three times in the head.

The man's defense attorney, Osvaldo Holstein, told Radio Cooperativa that both the Psychiatric Hospital of Dr. José Horwitz and the Legal Medical Institute have been asked to "carry out appropriate investigations to determine my client's true state of health" and indicated that "information the defense has received up until now indicates he was clearly not in his right mind".

"My client has told some incoherent accounts to the defense; he was unable to give the defensive team the information needed to develop a stronger case", stated Holstein.

If psychiatric examinations determine that Concha Guerra is suffering from some kind of dementia or insanity, he will not be able to be convicted of the crime.

The Seventh Penalty Court of Santiago has issued a term of 90 days to allow the Public Ministry to investigate the case.
