Copper closes with another loss in London

The red metal dropped 1.77%, reaching US$ 1.51 per pound.

LONDON.- Copper closed with another loss today, this time of 1.77% at the London Metal Exchange (LME), after trading for US$ 1.51046 per pound of "grade A" material, compared to US$ 1.53768 on Friday and US$ 1.56172 on Thursday of last week.


As a result, the monthly average has been reported at US$ 1.50353, while the yearly average is currently US$ 1.48237.


Meanwhile, the future 3-month price quote ended at US$ 1.52203 per pound, down 1.91% from Friday (US$ 1.55174).


At the LME, stocks decreased by 5,625 metric tons to 536,675. So far this year, there has been an accumulated increase of 196,900 MT (+57.95%).
