SANTIAGO.- After suffering an ankle injury yesterday, Colo Colo winger Gerardo Cortéz underwent surgery at 7:00 am this morning at the Clínica Santa María.

The player was operated on by the team physician, Doctor Roberto Yáñez, for a tear in his Achilles tendon, which occurred during physical training at the first practice session of the week.

According to information released by the club, Cortés is in good health and the medical team did not have to perform any kind of grafting to repair the damaged tendon.

Yáñez is expected allow the middle fielder to be discharged from the clinic on Wednesday of this week, although the player will have to remain off the field for approximately six months and will not participate in the rest of the Apertura and Copa Libertadores tournaments.
