SANTIAGO.- According to a poll taken by Trabajando.com, in honor of World Sleep day this coming Saturday, 28% of Chileans admit to having fallen asleep at least once at work.

Six thousand people from four countries in Latin America were asked, "Have you ever fallen asleep at work?". The country with the drowsiest workforce was Peru, where 32% said yes, followed by Chile and further down on the list by Mexico and Argentina.

The majority of those polled stated that they had fallen asleep at their desks, although the most common location indicated by Argentines was the bathroom.

"Low productivity and a lack of concentration are direct consequences of sleep deprivation. Workers should get an adequate amount of rest, because if they do not, their performance and health will be gravely affected", stated Juan Pablo Swett, General Director of the website Trabajando.com.

Swett added that "dedication to one's work does not merely have to do with fulfilling a schedule, it has to do with fulfilling one's responsibilities as best as possible and if you are not healthy, the road is even rockier".
