SANTIAGO.- Gonzalo Cruzat, father of the 11 year-old boy that has been waiting for a heart transplant for more than two months, revealed today that President Michelle Bachelet called had called him from India –where she is currently on an official visit-  to offer him her support and ask about the condition of his son.

"It was simply a human call, not as a President, but as a mother, as a pediatrician and as a Chilean citizen. What she told me was that, from far away, from India, she had been able to observe the importance Felipe's case has had in Chile and that we all come together for common causes", he stated.

Gonzalo Cruzat stated that the call from the President surprised him greatly and that it was "very pleasant to talk to her. It was a very humanitarian, personal exchange". "I thought it was a very nice gesture", he pointed out.

The young boy continues in serious though stable condition and is connected to a mechanical ventilator. His father added that he is still in condition to receive a transplant, although logically the risks are now much higher.
