Family robbed in exclusive La Florida condominium complex

SANTIAGO.- Not even the three security guards could keep four thieves from burglarizing a home in the exclusive Santa Sofía de Lo Cañas condominium complex in the municipality of La Florida.

According to Radio Cooperativa, the incident occurred at night, when the individuals arrived at the residence with firearms and knifes, and proceeded to threaten Rodrigo Cabello, his wife and his children ages 5, 8 and 13.

One of the intruders even held a knife to the 13 year-old boy's throat to force his parents to open a safe.

The intruders then fled the scene on foot with cash and various electronics, leading authorities to speculate that there might have been a car waiting for them.

The case has been turned over to the East Metropolitan Public Prosecutor's Office and the Metropolitan Robbery Department of the Bureau of Police Investigations, who have already begun a search for the assailants.
