SANTIAGO.- Gonzalo Cruzat, the father of the 11 year-old boy who has been waiting for a heart for 67 days and received an artificial organ this morning, stated, "we cannot let our guard down, we have to continue on national alert".
While referring to Felipe's surgery, Gonzalo Cruzat indicated, "we know that this is a significant operation (…) each day we live with death, we leave it in God's hands and ask him to be with Felipe".
This morning, a mass was held in the central hall of the medical center until past 10:00 am and was presided over by two priests from Colegio de los Sagrados Corazones, Father Jorge Marín and Father Matías Valenzuela.
"I was very close to God at the mass, I cleansed myself quite a bit, I managed to clarify things that were in my heart. Many people have come here who are not even Catholic, but have still shown us their support", expressed Felipe's father.
Following the operation, special measures will be taken to help strengthen the boy's muscles after having to remain inactive for so long.
"Felipe should recover his physical condition, he does not have the musculature to remain bed-ridden for two months and (as a result of cerebral thrombosis) he does not have the same mobility in the left side of his body as he does in the right", said Gonzalo Cruzat.
