SANTIAGO.- Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mariano Fernández, reiterated today that border limits with Peru are not going to be moved following Peru's presentation of a maritime boundary grievance report to The Hague.

"We are convinced, after evaluating all of the points, that borders will remain the same", stated Fernández to Radio ADN. He also commented that, due to this discrepancy, Peru is probably going to spend a long time disputing topics that "we do not have to take part in, because it is all very clear".

The ambassador specified that, according to law, things "are what they are and are not what people say they are", and "the boundary in northern Chile is a border duly aligned with the charted parallel, to the south of which Chile has undisputed sovereignty and jurisdiction".

Fernández went on to comment that the level of trust with Peru "is not at its highest", but that diplomatic relations remain "normal".
