SANTIAGO.– Radical party senator Nelson Ávila is reportedly in stable condition at the Intensive Care Unit of Hospital San Camilo in San Felipe where he has been hospitalized after suffering an acute myocardial infarction.
The senator's family has decided to transfer him to the Clínica Alemana where he will undergo numerous exams.
Senator Ávila came into the medical facility yesterday complaining of thoracic pain characteristic of this cardiac pathology. He was immediately hospitalized in the ICU, where, after undergoing numerous procedures, doctors were able to stabilize his condition.
The legislator had been playing tennis in San Felipe early in the morning and had then returned to his home in the municipality of Rinconada.
After eating lunch, he began to feel unwell, at which point his wife took him to the medical facility. According to doctors, the heart attack began while he was in the car on his way to the hospital.
