SANTIAGO.- "It was (journalist) Iván Valenzuela’s fault. He said on the news that the band (Radiohead) had come to the restaurant and that is why there were so many fans outside", Liguria restaurant waiter Abraham Núñez claimed this morning between laughs. He is one of the Chileans that has come closest to the famous band since they landed yesterday in Chile.
At 7:30 PM yesterday, the band and their tour staff made a surprise dinner visit to the "Liguria" restaurant on Manuel Montt without being harassed by fans.
“We took them to the Bachelet room of the restaurant. They ordered wine, drinks, piscolas and several types of food, from ravioli to fish", stated Núñez.
The waiter did not serve them directly, but did have the opportunity to develop an opinion of them.
"They were really laid-back, relaxed. They spoke very little. They were as calm as Jane Birkin and Coldplay, who have also visited the restaurant", said the waiter.
Núñez says the band members had no problem being photographed with the restaurant staff and were not concerned when fans began to arrive.
After sampling their orders, the band returned to their hotel at about 10:30 pm, leaving behind a very good impression with Núñez, who proudly shows off the photos he had taken with them.
