SANTIAGO.- "I entered the house. They were inside and they jumped on top of me; they grabbed my arms from behind, they covered my face and they beat me and fired a gunshot". This is the story told by engineer Michel Basquín as he relays what happened when five teenagers burglarized his home last night in the municipality of La Reina.
The victim says that he arrived home at approximately 8:50 pm and found the assailants "getting ready to rob the house, since they didn't actually manage to take anything".
Basquín says that the teenagers were armed with knives and guns, adding that they were "violent and foul-mouthed". The man reportedly fought off the intruders indicating, "two of them went down with just a couple of hits".
The teens spent no longer than five minutes inside the home of the man, who they beat over the head with a revolver and threatened with knives. The intruders also fired a gunshot, although no one was injured by it.
"They got scared because a friend of mine and my wife were outside and they started to scream when they heard the shot", stated Basquín, who said that the intruders made off with "a small amount of cash" from his home.
