Crash in Pudahuel leaves one dead and one severely injured

The driver of the truck was inebriated when he collided with a motorcycle.

SANTIAGO.- One person was killed and another left seriously injured early this morning after a cargo truck crashed into a motorcycle at the corner of Avenida San Pablo and San Luis, in the northern sector of Pudahuel.


The incident occurred just after 2:00 AM, when a motorcycle driven by 28 year-old Miguel Troncoso Orellana, who was accompanied by 32 year-old Cristián Sanhueza Flores, was travelling eastbound along San Pablo and was hit head-on by a semi being driven by César Ojeda Cárdenas, who inopportunely crossed the median of the road.


According to police, both motorcycle passengers were thrown through the windshield of the truck as a result of the impact and ended up inside the driver's cabin.


Following the accident, both victims were taken to the Posta 3 medical facility. Sanhueza Flores however, died en route to the clinic.


According to preliminary information, the driver of the truck and his passenger, 42 year-old Jaime Díaz Sáez, were both under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
