SANTIAGO.- According to the latest ATP ranking released this morning, Nicolás Massú and Paul Capedeville are reportedly only 5 points apart and currently positioned in 87th and 88th place, respectively.
The Viña del Mar native dropped three spots after being eliminated to from the Montecarlo Masters qualifying match against Italian player Fabio Fognini, while Capdeville dropped a position following his participation at the ATP tournament in Houston.
Meanwhile, Chile's number one player, Fernando González (who will not play at the French tournament this week) continues as number 13 in the world.
The most significant jump in the ranking was taken this week by Spanish player Juan Carlos Ferrero, who climbed 40 slots after winning the title in Casablanca and putting an end to his six-year dry spell.
No changes were reported in the three highest positions of the ranking, as Nadal continues 3,450 points ahead of Swiss player Roger Federer and is 5,460 points above Serbian player Novak Djokovic.
