Police report 82 arrests in Santiago following "super classic" match

Of those apprehended, 70 have been turned over to the Fiscalía Local of Ñuñoa.

SANTIAGO.- A total of 82 arrests, as well as 15 official complaints, were registered by Metropolitan Region police as a result of the soccer match that took place at the National Stadium yesterday afternoon between Universidad de Chile and Colo Colo.


Among those apprehended, there were reportedly 72 men, 2 women and 9 minors.  The majority of the arrests (47) were made on charges of disorderly conduct, while 24 were due to drug charges and 6 arrests were made for knife possession.


Of the individuals that were detained, 70 have been placed under the jurisdiction of the Fiscalía Local of Ñuñoa, while the others will be turned over to the 8º Juzgado de Garantía de Santiago.


Police have also indicated that there was a confrontation in Arica between fans of the two teams, which involved attacks with stones and sticks. Following police intervention, seven men (six adults and one minor) were arrested and one of the men apprehended reportedly possessed a pending arrest warrant. Three people received minor injuries as a result of the attacks.
