SANTIAGO.- After accepting an invitation from the Chilean Army, the Head of the British Armed Forces, General Sir Richard Dannatt, began an official visit to Chile today and will remain in the nation until May 6th.

The leader of the United Kingdom’s military will participate in an extensive agenda of activities that includes visits to several military facilities.

General Dannatt is also scheduled to attend meetings with Minister of Defense Francisco Vidal Salinas and Commander in Chief Óscar Izurieta Ferrer, as well as give a graduate-level class at the War Academy of the Army.

As is customary with those who have contributed to building a collaborative and amiable relationship with the institution, the Chilean Army plans to present Sir General Dannatt with a “Victory Cross” medal during a ceremony in his honor that will be presided over by Minister of Defense Francisco Vidal.  The ceremony is scheduled to take place on Monday, May 4th, at the Military History Museum (Museo Histórico y Militar, MHM).
