SANTIAGO.- Paul Capdeville (ATP No.80), against all odds, had just come off of an excellent week of game play in the ATP circuit after reaching the semi-finals in Estoril.
This week however, his winning streak came to an end at the challenger tournament in Bordeaux, where Capdeville was defeated during the first round of the competition.
At his first match in the championship, the Santiago native lost in two sets to French player Nicolás Mahut (ATP No.152), with a score of 6-2 and 7-6.
Capdeville started off badly against his rival as Mahut, who is known for having a tremendous serve, scored three aces against him.
The Chilean player gave up his serve in the first game. A break point in the seventh game helped Mahut to secure the first set with a score of 6-2.
The second set was evenly played. There were no breaks and Mahut only moved ahead during the tie break with a score of 7-4.
