LONDON.- Chilean choreographer José Vidal will premier in London this weekend with a show featuring two of his latest works that are characterized for being original and contemporary.
Vidal, who has lived in the British capital since 2005, is the author of "The Kiss" and "Inventario", the two creations that will be debuted tomorrow for the English public, which is accustomed to a more classical type of dance.
"People are very conservative here when it comes to technique; they are just now starting to have things that we already saw in Chile ten years ago", explains the artist.
Both "The Kiss" and "Inventario" are based on the use of a "score" that uses light in a manner in which Vidal decides "which type of choreography goes in each fragment of light or dark".
These shows are created to be "like a spatial drama", using, according to the author, "a rectangle –the stage- divided into 12 light fragments".
The stage will feature eight dancers that will include Spanish artist Montserrat Ventura, as well as two Chilean performers: actress Julieta Figuera (known for her participation in "El cielo, la tierra y la lluvia") and actor José Luis Torres.
