SANTIAGO.- Chilean tennis player Paul Capdeville (ATP No.76) was defeated today at the Kitzbühel ATP tournament (Austria, clay, $US 571 thousand dollars in prizes) after debuting as a "lucky loser" after Russian player Nikolay Davydenko (ATP No.10) left the competition.

Chile's number two player lost by a wide margin to Argentine national Diego Junqueira (ATP No. 79) by 6-3 and 6-2 in only 51 minutes.

The first set began evenly for both players. During the eighth game however, the Argentine began to take advantages of the errors made by Capdeville and took the serve.

In the ninth game, Capdeville wasted a break serve, allowing Junqueira to close out the first game with 6-3 in only 26 minutes.

The second set could have gotten off to a worse start for Capdeville, who gave up his serve early in the first game. Afterwards however, the Chilean player took the serve from the circuit's 79th player.

Capdeville was expected to make a comeback, but did not. Junqueira took the Chilean's serve in the third and seventh games to close out the match with a stark 6-2 in 25 minutes.

Capdeville will now prepare to participate in the Roland Garros tournament –the year's second Grand Slam-, which will begin this Sunday.
