Young man beaten with a skateboard remains in critical condition

SANTIAGO.- 25 year-old student Colin Fetter Silva continues in critical condition at Hospital Salvador. The young man was beaten by a group of skaters while standing outside of a convenience store with his girlfriend in the municipality of Providencia.

Officer Luis Sandoval, chief of the Department of Homicide Investigation, explained that there was an altercation between Fetter and a group of teenagers inside the business, which they continued on the street.

Andrea Contreras, the victim's girlfriend, said that the attackers continued to beat the young man even after he had fallen to the ground.

"We were buying some ice-cream at a convenience store and when we left, some skaters outside started provoking us. They provoked us, then followed him (Fetter Silva) and beat him, he fell on the ground and one of them, the biggest one, hit him with the edge of his skateboard and split his head open", she stated.

An off-duty police officer in the area managed to arrest three teenagers who were presumably involved in the beating. They were then taken into custody to be questioned by police investigators.
