SANTIAGO. - Last Tuesday, February 12, the principal actors of the Pisco Industry of Chile got together to define who will form part of a commission that will analyze and propose a structure for a Pisco Regulatory Council. This public-private entity will be the organism charged with the defense, protection and planning for the denomination of origin for Pisco.
The Council will be made up of people from the public and private spheres and will work to secure the denomination of origin of Pisco Chile in competition with other countries. In order to come to an agreement over the structure and operations of this Council, a preliminary commission is to be formed with the task of making said decisions and creating the Council. This commission was formed last week following a meeting between the primary defenders of this national spirit.
“I believe that this is a transcendental step for the defense of the denomination of origin of Chilean Pisco”, stated Francisco Hernández, vice president of Capel.
The proposal created by this commission will be compared to one that is being drafted by the ministry of Agriculture, on March 15 of this year.
