Woman in critical condition after being stabbed by her spouse

According to police, the aggressor was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

SANTIAGO. - A woman identified as Miriam del Carmen Herrera González, age 36, has been hospitalized at the Luis Tisné Hospital and her condition is reported to be life-threatening. She was stabbed last night by her husband, José Segundo Lemunao Antimillo, age 47, in the neighborhood of Peñalolén. 


The incident occurred around 10:00pm at 1964 Tacama in the community of Lo Hermida.  For reasons that are still under investigation, the couple got into a heated and violent argument that ended when Lemunao went into the kitchen, took out a knife, and stabbed his wife numerous times.


The woman’s son, Felipe Gallardo Herrera, age 17, lives in Chanco in the Maule Region and was visiting at the time of the incident.


He overheard the argument and came out to defend his mother, confronting her husband and getting wounded in the process, at which point Lemunao fled the home.


Both mother and son were taken to the Luis Tisné Hospital.
