SANTIAGO.- While visiting Lucinda Villalobos early this morning at the Posta Central Medical Center, President Michelle Bachelet announced her plan to put together a committee that will determine the future of the Tobalaba Aerodrome.
“The people’s safety is a crucial issue for my administration”, asserted Bachelet. The President then contacted the mayor of the Metropolitan Region, Álvaro Erazo to “put together a committee as soon as possible to analyze the current status of the aerodrome as well as the risk it may pose to the population, and to then find solutions”.
“I don’t want to offer any premature solutions, because this is a matter that requires detailed investigation. The important thing is to look for ways to be able to evaluate the risks posed to the population”, said President Bachelet— referring to the fact that the zones currently located just outside the perimeters of the air terminal “are highly populated areas (…) And that is why we need to sit down to seriously think about the matter and look for an effective way to deal with the current situation in order to guarantee people’s safety”.
