SANTIAGO. -  A meteorological phenomenon called “high nucleus” is responsible for the rain showers which began to fall this morning in Santiago, concentrated mainly in the eastern part of the city.

The rain is affecting the 5th and 6th Regions of Chile, as well as the upper part of the 7th Region and, according to reports from the Department of Meteorology, will only last until approximately six or seven o’clock this evening.

Weather conditions should be normal this weekend and throughout the next week with no precipitation at all in the forecast until Tuesday at the earliest.

High amounts of rainfall are not predicted this year due the “La Niña” phenomenon, although recent reports have indicated that more precipitation is a possibility beginning in June.
