SANTIAGO.- Joaquín Lavín´s public opposition to the constitutional charges being brought by the Alianza against Minister of Education Yasna Provoste was well-received today by the Government.

State Secretary General Francisco Vidal conveyed how much the “Government values Joaquín Lavín´s opinion”.   During an interview last night with Channel 13, Lavín stated that “if [he] were a Member of Parliament, [he] would vote against the constitutional charges” being promoted by his party to hold the Minister of Education politically responsible for financial irregularities in the distribution of school subsidies, which was detected by the Comptroller’s Office.

“We are talking about one of the leaders of the Alianza for Chile, who placed himself in the situation to explain that if he were a senator, he would vote against the action.   We value his opinion, his premises, because they completely coincide with what the Government has been reiterating about the matter”, stated Vidal.
