SANTIAGO.- The mayor of Huechuraba, Carolina Plaza, stated yesterday that she is “disappointed” by Joaquín Lavín´s defensive attitude concerning the alleged financial misappropriations in her municipality.  Plaza has implicated the ex presidential candidate’s son in law, Isaac Givovich, as being responsible for the anomalies.  UDI president Hernán Larraín however, assured that the conflict will not interfere with work being done by the town council, which the former Santiago leader is a part of.

Senator Larraín also stated that, following the discrepancy in Huechuraba, the town council will perform its duties even more tediously “to make sure that officials are fit for the job and will guarantee service and better use of resources belonging to the Chilean people”.

Larraín also said however, that he understands Lavín´s “emotional” attitude toward the matter.  “I understand him (Lavín), he wanted to defend his son in law, because he believes his son in law’s explanations for his point of view.  I could never object to something of that nature”, he said.
