Explosion causes damages to bank in Pudahuel

SANTIAGO. - A strong explosion destroyed the front windows of a BancoEstado branch early this morning in the neighborhood of Pudahuel.

The event took place at 12:50am at 1021 La Estrella Avenue, where, according to preliminary accounts, an unknown individual left the device in front of the bank before detonating it.

The explosion occurred at the door of the ATM machine of the branch, yet no damage was caused to the machine itself.

According to sources, the explosion did not hurt anyone. Although not found directly around the bank, pamphlets alluding to planned protests for the “day of the young combatant” on March 29 were found on adjacent streets.

At this point no group has taken responsibility for the attack. The case is being investigated by the Occidental Metropolitan Prosecutor’s Office.
