SANTIAGO.-  A bicyclist, identified as 35 year-old Cristián Pierola Pérez, died this morning after being hit by a vehicle at the La Alameda and Obispo Umaña intersection, located within the municipality of Estación Central.

The victim had been riding along Avenida Libertador Bernardo O´Higgins, apparently in a state of intoxication, when he collided with a taxi traveling in the area being driven by 49 year-old Raúl Soto Molina.

Following the accident, the man fell to the street but suffered only minor injuries.  Just moments later however, the man was hit by another vehicle traveling along La Alameda.

The driver of the second vehicle fled the scene, although witnesses were able to record his license plate number.  Police later arrested the driver in the Laguna Azul neighborhood of Pudahuel.
