SANTIAGO.- The national head of the Prison Guard Force, Alejandro Jiménez, announced this morning that the assistant operations director of the institution, Cornel Pedro Manchileo, is being investigated for unauthorized use of public goods.

The investigation began after the Prison Guard Force received an anonymous complaint concerning the possibility of Manchileo engaging in “unauthorized use” of a public vehicle.

Manchileo took the position in April of last year after working before as the director of a new penitentiary in Santiago Uno.

The case is similar to that of the chief of the presidential bodyguards, Lieutenant Cornel Aldo Vidal, who was dismissed from his position yesterday after being questioned about the “unauthorized use “of a public vehicle and for using police officials for personal means.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, President Michelle Bachelet accepted the resignation of the sub secretary of Transport, Elinett Wolf (PS) for having used the ministry’s vehicle and driver to deliver raspberries to restaurants.
