SANTIAGO.- The government stated today that it expects gas shipments from Argentina to resume within the short term and reiterated that, for now, the supply of gas for residential use is ensured.

“We continue to hope that the conversations and good relations that we have with Argentina will result in, at least, adequate shipments to supply gas for household use”, stated the minister of Interior, Edmundo Pérez Yoma while reminding people that Argentina is currently being affected by a front of very cold weather.

Yesterday, the minister of Energy, Marcelo Tokman, said that the Argentine government had announced that gas would not be sent to Chile “for a few days” due to low production problems.

“We are not worried, we believe that it will happen, the reserve we have is enough for many days.  Minister Tokman is actively pursuing the matter”, maintained Pérez Yoma.  The minister of Interior added that Tokman is in constant contact with Argentine authorities.
