SANTIAGO.- Jaime Gajardo, the president of the Teachers´ Association of Chile, has stated, “there are substantial aspects of the General Education Law (LGE) that have not been considered and they would need to be incorporated, for example, the fact that it does not do away with profits, but rather legalizes them; we also don’t think there should be a selection process for primary and secondary education”.
During an interview with TVN, the leader stated, “another point is the regulation that says that anyone with a degree can be an educator, these are aspects that should not be included in this Law”.
Gajardo emphasized that “you can dress the system up, you can regulate it, but it doesn’t change its essence, which in this case is profit, which is allowing some people to get rich off of the education system”.
"We support the motions issued by the Presidential Educational Advising Committee, directed by Juan Eduardo Garcia-Huidobro".
