SANTIAGO.- The Government, by means of statements made by the Sub Secretary of Interior, Felipe Harboe, has confirmed that a police officer from the Second Police Station of Cartagena is the individual whose voice can be heard on a recording of a conversation with the ring-leader of the “Los Car´e Jarro” gang, which was presented as evidence at the arraignment hearing of the drug-trafficking group.

Harboe stated that the officer immediately came forward to his superiors to indicate that it was his voice on the telephone recording and reiterated that he was completely innocent of the relationship he is being accused of.

The Government authority also –despite the acknowledgement— indicated that the officer continues to act in his professional capacity, since there is still no proof of any illicit act, although the Public Ministry will pursue investigation into the matter.

The officer said that the conversation with Iván Cavieres, also known as “The Car´e Jarro”, was only to greet him, since the two had previously met when the officer photographed him following a traffic accident involving the drug-trafficker and his family in Cartagena.
